The Benefits of Almond Meal
Almonds are packed with great nutrients!

They are an excellent source of vitamin E and manganese, and a very good source of many other vitamins and minerals including magnesium.

Almond meal, also known as almond flour, is a finely ground powder made from ground almonds.

Almond meal has a similar consistency to traditional flours (albeit denser and heavier), forms good batter with eggs and other fats, and it gives whatever you’re making a nice nutty quality. Almond meal is also fairly taste-neutral; it has a distinct nutty taste that coincidentally works well with many food combinations.

It has become increasingly popular in recent years as a gluten-free alternative to traditional wheat flour, but it also offers a wide range of other benefits as well.

Here are just a few of the many benefits of almond meal:

  1. Rich in nutrients: Almond meal is high in protein, fibre, healthy fats, and a variety of essential vitamins and minerals. Just one quarter cup of almond meal contains over 6 grams of protein and 3 grams of fibre, as well as significant amounts of vitamin E, magnesium, and potassium.

  2. Gluten-free: For those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, almond meal is a great alternative to traditional wheat flour. It can be used in a wide variety of recipes, including baked goods, pancakes, and even as a coating for chicken or fish.

  3. Supports heart health: Almond meal is rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which have been shown to help reduce cholesterol levels and improve heart health. Additionally, the fibre in almond meal helps to keep you feeling full and satisfied, which can help to reduce the risk of overeating and weight gain.

  4. Lowers blood sugar: Almond meal has a low glycemic index, which means it doesn't cause a rapid spike in blood sugar levels. This makes it a great option for those with diabetes or anyone looking to keep their blood sugar levels stable.

  5. Versatile and delicious: Almond meal can be used in a wide variety of recipes, from savoury dishes like meatballs and veggie burgers to sweet treats like cookies and muffins. It has a rich, nutty flavour that adds a delicious depth of flavour to any dish.
